5 SFL Teachers Win the 17th Shanghai Philosophy and Social Sciences Outstanding Achievement Award
Recently, the list of the winners of the 17th Shanghai Philosophy and Social Sciences Outstanding Achievement Award was announced. Five SFL teachers made the list. Among them, Professor Pang Shuangzi's book "A Study of Language Contact through Translation" won the first prize in the category of monographs of the "Academic Excellence Award in Philosophy and Social Sciences". Professor Ding Hongwei's paper "Speech Prosody in Mental Disorders" won the first prize in the category of papers of the "Academic Excellence Award in Philosophy and Social Sciences". Professor Shang Biwu's book "A Study on McEwan's Fiction Creation and Its Ethical Value" and Professor Li Jincai's book "The Referential Mechanism of Proper Names: Cross-cultural Investigations into Referential Intuitions" respectively won the second prize in the category of monographs of the "Academic Excellence Award in Philosophy and Social Sciences". Professor Li Luan's paper "CCLOWW: A grade-level Chinese children’s lexicon of written words" won the second prize in the category of papers of the "Academic Excellence Award in Philosophy and Social Sciences".
The Shanghai Philosophy and Social Sciences Outstanding Achievement Award is one of the highest honors in social sciences in Shanghai. It aims to recognize outstanding scholars and achievements in Shanghai who have made significant contributions to promoting the systematic and theoretical research of the Party's innovative theories, accelerating the construction of an independent knowledge system for Chinese philosophy and social sciences, and serving the high-quality development of the economy and society.

Winning Teachers and Their Works
Pang Shuangzi is a professor and doctoral supervisor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. His research domains encompass corpus research and translation studies. She has been in charge of 3 projects funded by the National Social Science Foundation of China and published more than 20 papers in important academic journals both at home and abroad. Many of these papers have been reproduced in full in the "Reprinted Newspapers and Periodicals Materials by Renmin University of China". She has published three monographs with publishers such as The Commercial Press.
Ding Hongwei is a tenured professor and doctoral supervisor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the lead expert for the major project of the National Social Science Foundation of China, namely "Construction of a Corpus for Individuals with Mental Disorders and Language Research Aimed at Brain Science and Artificial Intelligence". She has long been committed to research in the areas of speech prosody, speech-language, and audiology.
Shang Biwu is a Distinguished Professor and doctoral supervisor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. His research interests primarily lie in British and American literature, narratology, and literary ethical criticism. He has published four monographs and over 100 papers.
Li Jincai is a tenured associate professor and doctoral supervisor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Her research focus is on language philosophy. She has been in charge of multiple research projects, including those funded by the National Social Science Foundation of China and the Shanghai Philosophy and Social Sciences Planning Project. She has published several articles in academic journals such as Philosophical Studies, Cognition, Journal of Semantics, Trends in Philosophy, and Contemporary Linguistics.
Li Luan is a tenured associate professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Her research area is psycholinguistics and cognitive neuroscience linguistics. She has been in charge of one project funded by the National Social Science Foundation of China. Her research findings have been published in internationally renowned journals such as Cognition, Human Brain Mapping, and Journal of Memory and Language.
