The 2025 freshmen, brimming with dreams and enthusiasm, stepped into the long-awaited School of Foreign Languages at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The school greeted each new student with sincerity and warmth, providing meticulous arrangements and thoughtful care, allowing everyone to feel the warmth and strength of the SFL in the lively atmosphere. 

 

 

 1.  a Smooth Start

 

On the early morning of August 26th, the SFL's Welcome Stand was already bustling with activity. Volunteers were in place early, dressed in neat team uniforms and full of energy as they began their work. They distributed SFL uniforms to the freshmen, patiently answered their questions and those of their parents, ensuring the registration process ran smoothly with sincerity and enthusiasm. 

 

2. Care and Concern

On the day of the freshmen's arrival, President Ding Kuiling, Vice President Zhang Zhaoguo, Party Committee Secretary Zhao Xin, Assistant to the President and Director of the Party and Administration Office Yang Ming, Director of the Academic Affairs Office Zhang Junliang, and Director of the Campus Management Office Kang Jian came to the welcoming site to extend their warm greetings to the volunteers and encourage them to continue to welcome the freshmen with enthusiasm. Zhang Yifan, SFL's' deputy party secretary, visited the freshmen's dormitories to inquire about their registration. A welcome package, which will be distributed at the opening ceremony, was prepared for the freshmen of 2025 to send the first blessing to their college life. 

 

 

3. Freshmen & Parents' Thoughts
Li Xinyi, a freshman majoring in English at the School of Foreign Languages in the class of 2025: "When the wutong leaves landed on my shoulder, I was standing at the entrance of the school. The warm greetings from the senior students and the sign that read 'Welcome New Students' made me feel very warm."
Li Xinyi's parent: "Just now at the registration point, the teacher said with a smile, 'You can be assured to leave your child to us.' My eyes suddenly became moist. I hope that in the four years of university, she can not only acquire knowledge but also learn to take responsibility and become a person with a bright future and a dream in her heart."

5. Freshman Class Meeting

 

On August 28th, the head teachers of the 2025 undergraduate English Department, Zhao Siqi, the Japanese Department, Li Siqi, and the German Department, Fan Likun, organized a freshman orientation class meeting in the conference room of Yang Yongman Building. 
The meeting included ice-breaking activities, peer sharing, and introductions to professional courses, effectively promoting communication and integration among students and helping freshmen adapt to the university's learning and living pace more comprehensively and quickly. A new chapter has begun, and the journey of dreams has set sail. Welcome the new students of 2025 to join the big family of the SFL.
