The Czech Study and Research Team from SJTU Visit the Chinese Embassy in the Czech Republic

On August 7th, the Czech study and research team of the Global Challenge Program of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, which is dedicated to the research on "New Quality Productivity Empowering Chinese Enterprises' Brand Overseas Expansion and Cross-Cultural Management Challenges and Countermeasures", visited and exchanged with the Chinese Embassy in the Czech Republic. Zuo Wenxing, the Minister-counselor of the Chinese Embassy in the Czech Republic, met with the team and held a discussion. The team was led by Zhang Yifan, the deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Foreign Languages, and included 10 outstanding students from 7 schools, namely the School of Foreign Languages, School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Environmental Science and Engineering, Antai College of Economics and Management, School of Humanities, Shanghai Jiao Tong University - University of Southern California Institute of Cultural and Creative Industry, and School of Education. The team will conduct a 10-day research in the Czech Republic, including enterprise visits, university exchanges, questionnaire surveys, and street interviews, all centered around the theme of "New Quality Productivity Empowering Chinese Enterprises' Brand Overseas Expansion and Cross-Cultural Management Challenges and Countermeasures". 

 

Zuo Wenxing extended a warm welcome to the group, and systematically introduced the fruitful achievements made in the bilateral relations between China and the Czech Republic over the years in areas such as political mutual trust, economic and trade cooperation, and cultural exchanges. Zuo Wenxing pointed out that despite the complex and changing international development environment, Chinese enterprises still maintain an open and inclusive attitude, adopt strategies that are adapted to local conditions and benefit the people, and have won wide recognition from the local people with their advanced manufacturing technology, high-quality products and services, and social responsibility. Upon learning that the study and practice group was led by the School of Foreign Languages and brought together outstanding students from seven schools of the university, including science and engineering, management, and humanities and social sciences, who are interested in international affairs, Zuo Wenxing said that the new era of diplomatic work urgently needed compound talents. She hoped that the students would have a sense of patriotism, broaden their international vision, consolidate their professional foundation, and enhance their cross-cultural communication skills, so as to contribute to the construction of the country with the strength of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and showcase the good image of Chinese youth on the international stage. 

 

 

Jiang Yupeng, the head of the Education Section, Zhang Dan, First Secretary of the Economic and Commercial Section, Guo Yumei from the Political and Information Section, and Huang Yiqi from the Office of the Embassy, respectively engaged in in-depth exchanges with the students and teachers on promoting cultural exchanges between the two sides, deepening cooperation between Chinese and Czech enterprises, and managing daily affairs. Zhang Yifan expressed sincere gratitude to the Embassy and Minister-Counselor Zuo Wenxing and introduced the basic situation of the study tour group. Fang Qing, an associate professor from the School of Foreign Languages, and Zhang Wenqing, the chief editor of the Publicity Department's News Center and deputy chief editor, respectively made exchanges and speeches on the research topics and existing achievements, as well as the achievements made by Shanghai Jiao Tong University in international communication and overseas publicity. The students interacted and exchanged with the embassy staff on the topic of Chinese enterprises' brand going global and cross-cultural management, as well as their feelings about visiting the Czech Republic. The embassy staff  responded to the students' questions and highly recognized the research topic and the students' remarks and feelings. The students unanimously stated that each overseas visit is a vivid patriotic education, and they will cherish the rare opportunity for exchange and visit, deeply understand the international influence of new quality productivity, carefully complete the practical summary and research report, and contribute to achieving better results for the Global Challenges Program - Czech Republic Special Project.
