Professor Li Chengchen Invited as the Co-Editor-in-Chief of an International Authoritative Journal

Recently, Professor Li Chengchen from the School of Foreign Languages at Shanghai Jiao Tong University was invited by the renowned international academic publisher Taylor & Francis (Routledge) to serve as the co-editor-in-chief of the authoritative international journal Journal of Multilingual and Multicultural Development (SSCI/A&HCI journal, ranked 19th out of 303 in linguistics, Q1). 

Journal of Multilingual and Multicultural Development is published by Taylor & Francis (Routledge) and was founded in 1980. It is an international core journal in the field of multilingual and multicultural studies. The journal has long been dedicated to interdisciplinary frontier research in sociolinguistics, social psychology, language policy and planning, etc. Currently, it is indexed by both the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) and the Arts & Humanities Citation Index (A&HCI). According to the Journal Citation Reports, the journal's ranking in the SSCI Linguistics category has been steadily advancing in recent years, rising from 41st in 2022 and 27th in 2023 to 19th in 2024, firmly establishing itself in the Q1 quartile. The current editor-in-chief is Professor Jean-Marc Dewaele, an internationally renowned linguist. Professor Dewaele is a retired professor at Birkbeck College, University of London, and an honorary professor at University College London, enjoying a high reputation in the field of multilingual research. 

 

 

Dr. Li Chengchen is currently a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Foreign Languages, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and an honorary professor at the Institute of Education, University College London. His main research interests include positive psychology in foreign language education, second language writing, and bilingualism. Dr. Li has published over 50 research papers in SSCI and CSSCI indexed journals such as The Modern Language Journal, Studies in Second Language Acquisition, Bilingualism: Language and Cognition, Journal of Multilingual and Multicultural Development, and Modern Foreign Languages. He is a "Highly Cited Researcher" by Clarivate Analytics, a "Top 2% Scientist" by Stanford University, and a "Highly Cited Chinese Scholar" by Elsevier. Dr. Li served as the associate editor of this journal from 2023 to 2025. His invitation to serve as the co-editor-in-chief this time indicates the recognition of his academic achievements and editorial work by international authoritative publishers and the journal's editorial board, and also reflects the international academic influence of the School of Foreign Languages in this research field.
