The 2025 undergraduates from the School of Foreign Languages at Shanghai Jiao Tong University will soon bid farewell to the familiar campus and set sail on a new journey in life. On this occasion of parting, the SFL held a series of events such as the Voyage Education Conference and the Graduation Ceremony to bid farewell to the 2025 undergraduates, wishing them to live up to their potential and to write their own new chapters. 

On the evening of June 20th, the SFL held the Graduation Ceremony for the 2025 Undergraduates in the Boya Hall on Zijin Street, where SFL leaders, class teachers, teacher representatives, and graduates gathered together to look back on these unforgettable youthful years. The ceremony was presided over by 2025 undergraduate Zhao Jiadong, Yan Dong, Niu Jiayi and Zhan Yitao. 

Zhu Yifan delivered a speech on behalf of the SFL, extending warm congratulations to the graduates who had successfully completed their studies. Looking back on the past when they all struggled forward together in the shadow of the pandemic, she affirmed that the students of the SFL had used their professional skills to build bridges of communication, convey the warmth of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and demonstrate the responsibility and commitment of the youth of the new era. She encouraged the SFL students to become "integrators of China and the world" with warmth, "ambassadors of China" with deep roots, and "long-termists" with resilience, and to tell the true, three-dimensional and comprehensive story of China on a broader world stage with an attitude of equality, respect and inclusiveness. 

The class teachers, represented by Lyu Qianxi, Wang Lin and Xue Song, affectionately reviewed the growth of the 2025 graduates over the past four years. With the sentiment of "treasuring every encounter", they sent their best wishes to the students, urging them to transform their love for the alma mater, the bond with teachers, and the friendship among classmates into the driving force for their future, and to harvest rich spiritual values and a fulfilling life journey. 

Li Ruonan from the English Department, Zhao Jiadong from the Japanese Department, and Zhang Zhiyu from the German Department respectively delivered speeches as representatives of the graduating class. They expressed that the four years of university life not only enriched their knowledge and broadened their horizons, but also cultivated their ability to think independently. On this multilingual and multicultural platform of the SFL, they have gained the strength to grow and precious friendships. Facing the new journey about to begin, they will remember the teachings of the school and, with language as a bond, demonstrate the responsibility and wisdom of Chinese youth on the world stage. 

Tao Qing announced the list of students who were awarded the title of Outstanding Graduate of Shanghai and Outstanding Graduate of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Together with Zhu Yifan, he presented the certificates to the outstanding graduates and encouraged them to hold firm to their beliefs, forge ahead, always maintain an enterprising spirit, and constantly strive for excellence and reach new heights in their future studies and work. 

 

Tao Qing announced the list of class directors for the 2025 graduating class of the SFL and presented them with appointment letters. He encouraged the graduates to "stay in touch after graduation", to come back home often, and assured them that the school would always be there to support their growth and watch over them as they set out to explore the vast universe. 

During the gift-giving ceremony, Zhu Yifan, on behalf of the SFL, presented the graduates' representatives with custom-made graduation gowns carefully prepared by the school, symbolizing the glory of academic achievements and carrying the teachers' expectations that "no matter how far you go, don't forget your roots". Yan Dong, on behalf of the graduates, presented the school with a Suzhou embroidery of "Fruits Abound on the Peach and Plum Tree", embroidering the four years of time into an eternal scroll. The abundant fruits on the branches symbolize the talents from all directions cultivated by the school, embodying the gratitude and best wishes of all the graduates. 

During the game interaction session, the graduates and teachers worked in perfect harmony, enjoying the laughter-filled moments and capturing this precious golden memory together. They made a promise to meet again in the future. 

Finally, accompanied by the stirring melody of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University anthem, all the teachers and students sang to pay tribute to their youthful years and bid a heartfelt farewell to their alma mater. So far, the graduation ceremony came to a successful conclusion, but the struggle of SFLers will continue, with their original aspirations unchanged and their steps never ceasing.
