Good News! SFL Obtain Approval for the first time from the China Scholarship Council for the International Regional Studies and High-level Foreign Language Talents Training Program
Recently, the School of Foreign Languages received a notice from the China Scholarship Council (CSC) that its application for "Cultivating Talents for Research on Contemporary British Ethnic Issues and Social Culture" has been successfully approved as a project for the cultivation of high-level talents in international regional studies and foreign languages by the CSC. This marks an important progress in the SFL's research on regional and country-specific issues and cross-cultural studies, as well as in talent cultivation.
Project Introduction
Relying on the disciplinary strengths of Shanghai Jiao Tong University in the humanities and social sciences, and its long-term cooperation with the University of Warwick in the UK, this project innovatively adopts a training model that combines regional and country studies, cross-cultural communication and educational practice. During the three-year implementation period, it will independently select and send senior research scholars, visiting scholars and jointly trained doctoral students. Focusing on core issues of British ethnic problems and social culture, including ethnic relations, social development, cultural exchange and public policy, the project will undertake multi-field collaborative innovation research, aiming to provide intellectual support for Sino-British educational and cultural cooperation and global governance.
It is known that implimentation of the "International Regional Studies and High-level Foreign Language Talent Cultivation Program" by the China Scholarship Council aims to strengthen research on countries and regions, serve the overall situation of national opening up to the outside world, the Belt and Road Initiative, and the needs of the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind, and to accelerate the cultivation and reserve of a group of talents in international studies who have an international vision, are familiar with international rules and can participate in international affairs.
The successful approval of the "Contemporary British Ethnic Issues and Social Cultural Research Talent Cultivation" project will effectively promote the regional and country-specific studies of SFL, further improve the disciplinary system, and facilitate international cooperation and talent cultivation.
