On January 22nd, the School of Foreign Languages of Shanghai Jiao Tong University held a meeting for teachers and cadres to announce the appointment and removal of the Party Secretary of the SFL. Liu Weidong, a member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Fang Xi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Minister of the Organization Department of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the members of the school's leadership team and teachers attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Fang Xi. 

Fang Xi, on behalf of the SJTU Party committee, read out the decision on the appointment and removal of cadres, appointing Zhu Yifan as the Party Secretary of the School of Foreign Languages and removing Ding Jian from the position of Party Secretary of the School of Foreign Languages. 

Ding Jian delivered his parting speech. He expressed his resolute support for the decision made by the SJTU Party committee, thanked the SJTU for its trust and support, and congratulated Zhu Yifan on taking over as the Party Secretary of the SFL. He reviewed his work during his tenure, emphasizing the unity and collaboration with the SFL leadership team, their sense of responsibility and commitment, and their efforts to lead all the teachers and students to innovate and forge ahead bravely. They achieved remarkable results in building a first-class foreign language discipline and a harmonious School of Foreign Languages. He sincerely thanked the members of the leadership team and all the teachers and students for their support. He stated that he would continue to care about and support the development of the SFL and look forward to it reaching new heights in the future. 

Zhu Yifan made a statement on taking up her new position. She sincerely thanked the SJTU Party committee for its trust and entrustment, and expressed gratitude to her leaders and colleagues for their cultivation and care. She stated that she would quickly adapt to her new role and fulfill her new responsibilities, always adhering to the Party's leadership and strictly observing political discipline; she would be down-to-earth and promote the implementation of work with a spirit of seeking truth and being pragmatic; she would study diligently, think critically, keep pace with the times, and continuously enhance her ability to perform her duties. In the future, she will work in close collaboration with the SFL leadership team, unite and cooperate, and fully promote the construction of the SFL leadership team, the teaching staff, and other aspects of work. She will take the initiative to plan and act proactively, contributing to the transformation and upgrading of the foreign language discipline and the innovative development of the School of Foreign Languages. 

President Shang Biwu, on behalf of the SFL leadership team, expressed his full support and firm endorsement of the decision made by the university's Party committee. He thanked the university's Party committee for its high regard for the construction of the leadership team of the School of Foreign Languages. On behalf of the SFL faculty and students, he expressed gratitude to Ding Jian and all previous members of the leadership team for their outstanding contributions and hard work for the development of the SFL. He also congratulated Zhu Yifan on her appointment as the SFL's Party secretary. He stated that under the strong leadership of the university's Party committee, the SFL leadership team will continue to work together in harmony and closely cooperate, uniting and leading all faculty and students to strive continuously and jointly promote the leapfrog development of the School of Foreign Languages. 

In his concluding remarks, Liu Weidong highly affirmed Ding Jian's significant contributions to the development of the SFL, congratulated Zhu Yifan on her appointment as the Party Secretary, and put forward expectations and requirements for the SFL leadership team and its development. He pointed out that the leadership team should strengthen their sense of responsibility, care for the growth of every teacher and student, and unite their efforts to seek common development. He emphasized that when faced with new situations and challenges, SFL's development should be promoted through the construction of first-class disciplines, and plans and schemes should be formed by integrating the university's platform resources and combining various aspects of work such as talent team building, curriculum system renewal, research directions, enrollment and employment, in order to make early preparations for the "15th Five-Year Plan" layout. He expressed his expectations that the SFL would achieve greater development under the leadership of the new leadership team.
