SFL held its 2024 leadership team's work report meeting and New Year's celebration on January 14th in the Yang Yongman Building. Zhao Xiujü, Director of Legal Affairs Office of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Ding Yeting from the Human Resources Department attended the meeting. Ding Jian, the Party Secretary of SFL; Shang Biwu, the Dean of SFL, and the entire leadership team, as well as all the faculty and staff, were present. 

 

The 2024 Annual Report and Review Conference of SFL Leaders 

Zhao Xiujü led the democratic evaluation of the leadership team. 

 

Dean Shang Biwu delivered the annual work report, highlighting achievements such as breakthroughs in interdisciplinary research, establishment of the National Center for Language and Health Research, improvements in teaching quality, and enhanced cooperation with external partners. He also outlined future plans to build a first-class faculty, explore new disciplinary growth areas, and deepen international collaboration.

 

Party Secretary Ding Jian emphasized strengthening grassroots Party building, expanding theme education, and integrating Party leadership into all aspects of SFL development. He called for continuous reform and innovation to foster top-tier talent.

 

Ding Jian then presided over reports from Vice Dean Tao Qing , covering international exchanges, postgraduate education, alumni affairs, and Deputy Party Secretary Ren Zhujing, covering party organization, discipline inspection, personnel, publicitiy, trade union, retirement and other key areas.

The event also included a farewell ceremony for retiring faculty, a welcome for new staff, and an awards ceremony recognizing outstanding contributions. 

At the meeting, a farewell ceremony for the retiring faculty members in 2024 was held to express gratitude to the retiring teachers for their positive contributions and hard work for SFL's development. He Yan and Zuo Kewen shared their sentiments upon retirement. 

In the welcome ceremony for new faculty members, faculty members and postdoctoral fellows who joined the SFL in the second half of 2024 introduced themselves one by one.

At the meeting, the teachers who won the "Annual Contribution Award" of the School of Foreign Languages in 2024 were commended. Four teachers, Xue Song, Pang Shuangzi, Zhang Yiheng and Shen You, won the first prize of the "Annual Contribution Award", and four teachers, Zhao Hongyan, Xue Yuan, Huang Shao and Lin Zibo, won the second prize of the "Annual Contribution Award". 
Representatives of all trade unions of SFL presented wonderful performances, interspersed with lucky draw games, which fully demonstrated the energetic and progressive spirit of the faculty of the SFL, and expressed the longing and expectation of going on a new journey and creating a better future together.
