Xiao Guofang, vice president of the Trade Union of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, delivered the opening speech. He said that the School of Foreign Languages was privileged to produce a multi-language reading concert, a vivid illustration of its characteristic, and also a reflection of the wisdom and courage of SFL people. In recent years, the School of Foreign Languages has developed by leaps and bounds, especially in the field of discipline construction, and has made gratifying achievements. On the way to the university’s goal of becoming a "comprehensive, innovative and internationalized” world-class university, the people of SFL have been diligent and dedicated to their work. The construction of the first-class SFL cannot be separated from the construction of the first-class Trade Union. Trade unions should play an important role in ideological and political guidance, and do a good job in the unity project and the creativity project. Xiao Guofang wished the event a complete success.

The concert began with the chorus of "Never Forget the Original Aspiration" performed by the SFL’s faculty chorus. As the lyrics went, "Never forget the original aspiration, keep marching forward" , the song sang out the faith in the Party and the vow of remembering the original aspiration, and the heartfelt voice of "sticking to the original aspiration of education and bravely undertaking the mission of educating people".

Through the wonderful multi-language reading, the Japanese, German, French and Russian Trade Union Group of SFL presented the grand blueprint of the 20th National Congress of the Party, that was, the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through Chinese modernization.
