论文简介:

    The present study pioneered in applying and justifying the interactionalist construct theory in speaking performance rating. First, the present study defined speaking construct from the interactionalist perspective, which can be readily applicable to relevant studies on speaking assessments. Second, the current research study proposed three types of rating scales in accordance with the minimal, moderate and strong claims of interactionalism, setting an example for relating the interactionalist construct theory to rating practices. Finally, the present study conducted multi-dimensional analyses of how the rating scales affected test scores, measurement facets and score meaning and interpretation. By triangulating both quantitative and qualitative data and integrating the research questions into the argument-based framework for validating rating practices, the present study depicted a comprehensive and detailed picture of how rating scale can influence speaking performance rating and the operationalization of test construct.
