Translation and Interpreting Program

The Translation and Interpreting program at SFL is a professionally oriented track that prepares students to work in the growing language industry in a variety of fields. 

 

1、Program Education Objectives
After graduation from the Translation and Interpreting program, the graduates are expected to:

  • Be equipped with global vision, overall developed personality and competitiveness who is suitable for the future society;
  • Apply their professional skills and creativity in careers in translation or non-translation professions.

2.Enrollment Requirements

A bachelor’s degree in the national education system (or equivalent professional qualifications) is required. Students from different disciplines and professional backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

5. Dissertation
The dissertation can take the following forms (optional):
(1) Translation project: Under the guidance of the adviser, the students choose Chinese and English texts (about 12,000 words in Chinese) to translate, and write a response paper (about 5,000 words in Chinese) analyzing translation issues based on the translation.
(2) Research paper: Students write translation research papers under the guidance of the adviser, the total number of words should be about 12,000 in English.


6. Degree Granting
Students who have completed the required courses, obtained the required credits, and passed the dissertation defense shall be awarded the graduate certificate and the master’s degree of translation and interpreting after the evaluation of the degree evaluation committee of the degree-granting entity.
