On September 18, Professor Jon Edward Wilson, Dean of the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (HASS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), led a delegation to visit the School of Foreign Languages, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). Zhu Yifan, Party Secretary, and Tao Qing, Vice Dean of the School, attended the meeting. The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges regarding discipline development, academic research collaboration, and joint talent cultivation.
The discussion centered on teaching and research cooperation in the fields of linguistics, translation studies, digital humanities and artificial intelligence. Both parties exchanged insights on prospective collaborative initiatives, including NTU master’s programs, joint PhD supervision, academic conferences, as well as faculty and student exchange programs.
This bilateral visit further consolidates academic ties between the two schools. It paves the way for substantive cooperation in AI-empowered language education and digital humanities, and strengthens joint efforts to foster high-caliber international talents.
