The Foreign Language College Teacher Development Center was officially established in May 2018. The Center aims to provide professional development services for all faculty members of the College, with a primary focus on enhancing teaching and research capabilities, and particularly supporting the growth of early and mid-career faculty.
Since its establishment, the Center has conducted the “Survey on Working Conditions of College Faculty,” organized multiple sessions of “Teaching Workshops” and “Research Workshops,” and launched initiatives such as the “Young Research Backbone Training Program,” the “English Reading and Writing Teaching Workshop Series,” the “Effective Foreign Language Teaching Workshop,” the “College Teaching Design Competition,” and the “College Online Course Demonstration Showcase.”
In collaboration with the University Teaching Development Center, the College Teacher Development Center established the Foreign Language College Branch of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Teaching Development Center in July 2019, jointly carrying out various teaching practices and research projects.
Furthermore, supporting curriculum development within the College is a key priority of the Center. To this end, the “Top-Tier Curriculum Development Initiative” has been launched internally, with plans for regular curriculum development projects and the gradual improvement of curriculum cultivation mechanisms. The goal is to build multiple high-quality courses, comprehensively enhance the College’s curriculum standards, and provide strong support for the cultivation of outstanding and top-notch talents.
The Center is currently led by Director Wang Yuxia and Deputy Director Du Yan.
