Associate Professor Wang Pin of the School of Foreign Languages, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, has been appointed Co-Editor-in-Chief of Language, Context and Text: The Social Semiotics Forum (ESCI), following an invitation from the internationally renowned academic publisher John Benjamins.

Language, Context and Text: The Social Semiotics Forum (LangCT) is a peer-reviewed international journal grounded in Systemic Functional Linguistics. It publishes theoretical and empirical research on language and the construction of social meaning, as well as studies on cross-semiotic relations between language and other modes. The journal's scope spans all linguistic levels and contextual dimensions, including academic and professional writing, business communication, computational linguistics and modelling, healthcare communication, child language development, language and literacy education, literary studies, second and additional language learning, and language and interpersonal relations in the workplace. Launched in 2019, LangCT is indexed in the Web of Science Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI). Its current Editors-in-Chief are Professor Akila Sellami Baklouti of the University of Sfax, Tunisia, and Associate Professor Wang Pin of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
Associate Professor Wang Pin serves as Chair of the English Department and Director of the Martin Centre for Applied Linguistics at the School of Foreign Languages, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He is the China Representative of the International Systemic Functional Linguistics Association, Deputy Secretary-General of the Functional Linguistics Committee of the China Association for Comparative Studies of English and Chinese, and a member of the Association's Discourse Analysis Committee. His research focuses on Systemic Functional Linguistics and functional linguistic typology, with a particular emphasis on systemic functional grammatical descriptions of Chinese and China's minority languages. His appointment as Co-Editor-in-Chief reflects the recognition of his scholarly achievements by John Benjamins and the journal's editorial board, and underscores the international academic standing of the School in the field of Systemic Functional Linguistics.
