Lecture Abstract
This session of the Wenzhi Lecture Hall focuses on disciplinary transformation and innovation amid the new era of peaceful development. Rooted in the context of China’s peaceful rise, the lecture analyzes new challenges confronting traditional disciplines in knowledge architecture, talent cultivation objectives and research paradigms. Centering on three dimensions — disciplinary positioning, talent training and research methodology — it explores core pathways for disciplines to shift from single knowledge transmission to interdisciplinary integration, national strategy-oriented research and responses to contemporary demands.
Against the backdrop of advancing national peaceful development, external exchanges and global governance capacity building, academic disciplines must better respond to the times by cultivating interdisciplinary talents with global vision, innovative thinking, cross-domain literacy and a strong sense of national identity. Starting from theoretical elaboration and practical real-world issues, this lecture clarifies the contemporary mission of academic disciplines in the new era, offering insights and references for high-quality innovative disciplinary development.

Dr. Gao Zhikai currently serves as Deputy Director of the Center for China and Globalization (CCG), Chair Professor at Soochow University, Visiting Professor at Shenzhen University, Vice Chairman of the US Alumni Branch of the Western Returned Scholars Association, Director of the China Institute for Energy Security, Deputy Director of the Academic Committee of Hainan South China Sea Institute, Distinguished Research Fellow of Guangxi Academy of Social Sciences, Industrial Mentor at Suzhou University of Science and Technology Business School, Think Tank Advisor for Chengdu Opening-up & Cooperation, Editorial Board Member of *OPEC Energy Review*, Current Affairs Commentator at CGTN, Chair of the Yale Law School China Society, and Arbitrator at the Asia-Pacific International Arbitration Court.
