To further deepen the construction of the international talent cultivation system and expand students' overseas study and diversified development paths, the School of Foreign Languages (SFL)of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore recently officially signed a joint cultivation agreement for the "Undergraduate-to-Graduate Direct Track" program. This program is open to all undergraduate students of the SFL and aims to provide students with an efficient, high-quality, and sustainable overseas study channel, and to help cultivate high-level compound talents with international vision, interdisciplinary literacy, and innovation ability.

In April 2025, Shang Biwu, Dean of the SFL, led a SFL delegation to visit Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. The delegation had in-depth exchanges with the heads of relevant faculties, departments and the International Affairs Office of NTU, reaching important consensus on deepening teaching cooperation, promoting student exchange visits, and establishing a joint training mechanism. These efforts enhanced mutual understanding between the two sides in terms of disciplinary developments and talent cultivation philosophy, while laying a solid foundation for the implementation of the "Undergraduate-Master's Direct Track" program.

According to the agreement, students can clarify their postgraduate study goals at NTU in advance during their undergraduate years, achieving effective alignment between the undergraduate and postgraduate stages in terms of knowledge systems, ability requirements, and training standards, which helps shorten the preparation period for overseas postgraduate studies.

The program supports cross-disciplinary applications, expanding development opportunities. Under the premise of fully ensuring the quality of training, the program allows SFL students to apply for NTU master's programs across disciplines, provided they meet the relevant academic and language requirements. This provides more possibilities for students to explore interdisciplinary directions and broaden their academic and career development paths.

The "Undergraduate-Master Direct Track" program is not only a vital channel for students' international advancement but also a powerful vehicle for the SFL to deepen the international collaborative education mechanism, as well as a key initiative to promote SFL's "internationalized" talent cultivation model. Moving foreard, the SFL will continue to advance practical cooperation with NTU, establish a long-term cooperation mechanism, and empower the SFL's discipline construction.
