
On January 6th, a delegation of 14 people from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, led by Mr. Abdullah bin Mohd Nawi, the Head of External Relations and Global Affairs, and Mr. Abdul Rahim bin Haji Salam, the Head of the Language Institute, visited the School of Foreign Languages at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Vice Dean Tao Qing, Deputy Director of Shanghai Jiao Tong University's Division for Development Liberal Arts Li Jincai, tenured-track associate professors Zou Li, Tang Yili, and Lv Qianxi, tenured-track assistant professor Wang Bowen, and foreign affairs secretary Zhang Xin attended the meeting. Both sides had an in-depth exchange on discipline settings, teaching characteristics, and projects, and also conducted a preliminary discussion on the future joint training cooperation model.

Tao Qing first extended a warm welcome to the delegation from the University of Technology Malaysia. He briefly reviewed the development history of the School of Foreign Languages, highlighting its profound accumulation in foreign language education and the remarkable achievements it has made in internationalized education and the cultivation of high-level talents. He stated that the SFL has always been committed to deepening international exchanges and cooperation, actively expanding partnerships with world-class universities, and focusing on enhancing students' global competence to cultivate new era talents with both high-level foreign language skills and a global perspective.



Mr. Abdullah bin Mohd Nawi expressed his gratitude to the School of Foreign Languages for its warm reception and meticulous arrangements. He stated that Shanghai Jiao Tong University, as a world-renowned institution of higher learning, enjoys an admirable academic reputation and a high level of internationalization. He hopes that through this visit and exchange, a closer cooperation mechanism can be established between the two schools and a long-term and stable exchange platform can be built. Subsequently, Mr. Abdul Rahim bin Haji Salam detailed the organizational structure and discipline system of the Language Institute; Ms. Johana binti Mohd Jobil and others shared the IEP and other distinctive English teaching programs.

Li Jincai gave a comprehensive overview of the School's progress in refining and developing discipline characteristics in recent years. Zou Li, Lyu Qianxi and Wang Bowen respectively elaborated on academic research, teaching mode and curriculum management-----topics of keen interests to the UTM delegation.
Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia have maintained a long-term and good cooperative relationship, and have continuously expanded the breadth and depth of cooperation through key projects such as "Asia Campus+". This exchange has further consolidated the foundation of cooperation between the two sides in the field of humanities and social sciences. In the future, the SFL will continue to strengthen interaction with Malaysian universities, continuously expand cooperation areas, promote resource sharing and complementary advantages, and achieve mutual benefit, win-win results and coordinated development.
