讲座题目：The Growth of Children’s Syntax 儿童句法结构的生长

讲座摘要：
    In this talk I argue that interactional and pointing capacities constitute the biological basis of our linguistic intelligence, and that interactional and pointing capacities are regulated by our syntactic mind. I further claim that children are born with interactional and pointing capacities which constitute the biological basis for the development of syntactic projections labeled as CP and VP, which emerge at their later stage of language development. Evidence will be given to show that children have a syntactic mind before speech, and that pointing by children may be analyzed into complex structures which correspond to the decomposed VP. Further evidence will be given to show that children’s acquisition of syntax is determined by a biological program which regulates its growth from the two opposing ends of syntactic structures, i.e., CP and VP, as predicted by the Bidirectional Growth Model of Child Language Acquisition proposed by Hu 2016.

主讲人简介：
    胡建华，香港城市大学哲学博士，中国社会科学院语言研究所二级教授、博士生导师，国务院政府特殊津贴专家；曾任《当代语言学》主编、当代语言学研究室主任、国际中国语言学学会执行秘书长。目前兼任上海外国语大学顾问教授、上海外国语大学语言研究院学术委员会主任、上海教育出版社《国际语言学前沿丛书》主编、商务印书馆《中国语言学书院·海外博士论文文库》主编、商务印书馆《中国语言学书院·语言学研究与探索文库》主编、《中国大百科全书》（第三版）语言文字学科编委及分支主编。
    研究领域涉及理论语言学、句法学、语义学、语用学、儿童语言获得与认知发展、心理语言学、跨语言比较句法、上古汉语句法等。论文刊于Nature Human Behaviour、Linguistics、The Linguistic Review、Journal of Pragmatics、Lingua以及《中国语文》《当代语言学》《外语教学与研究》《世界汉语教学》《外国语》《现代外语》《语言教学与研究》《语言研究》《语言科学》《汉语学报》等期刊。最近出版的英文著作有：Prominence and Locality in Grammar: The Syntax and Semantics of Wh-Questions and Reflexives（Routledge，2019）、Interfaces in Grammar （Hu Jianhua & Pan Haihua, eds.，John Benjamins，2019）。
