讲座摘要:
We will start by presenting some of the key characteristics of the School of Translation and Interpretation (STI) of the University of Ottawa, Canada’s premium translation studies department. We will briefly discuss the STI’s graduate programs and some of the cutting-edge research being done (by both students and faculty) in the department at the present time. We will situate this discussion within the particular Canadian context, but also by making references to other important developments involving translation and translation research activities within the larger context of the Americas (namely in the United States and Brazil). Finally, we will expand this discussion to geographical contexts elsewhere in the world (namely Europe and Asia) in an attempt to map the current status of translation as a field of study and inquiry and to formulate some hypotheses as to how and in which new directions the discipline might evolve over the next few years.
