Martin Centre for Appliable Linguistics Holds the Second Course Training and Symposium of 2015

On September 28th, Martin Center for Appliable Linguistics (Martin Center， for short) held the second course training and symposium on Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) of 2015 in the school of foreign languages, SJTU. The executive director of the Center, Professor Wang Zhenhua, Professor James R. Martin and more than 30 trainees (including teachers, doctorate students, post-doc scholars and postgraduate students from 12 universities at home and abroad) attended the event.

The course training will last for 5 days. Professor Martin, the renowned international SFL linguist, gives all the classes. This training is about discourse semantics, mainly on the APPRAISAL system, Identification, Ideation, Conjunction and Negotiation.

Different from the previous symposium, the symposium this time will be held on Thursday. Five attendants will present their papers at it. According to the schedule, Martin Center will hold the third course training and symposium from December 6th to December 11th.
