Martin Centre for Appliable Linguistics Holds the Third Course Training and Symposium of 2014

On November 3rd, Martin Center for Appliable Linguistics (MCAL) held the third course training and symposium on Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) of 2014 in the school of foreign languages of SJTU. 26 doctorate students from 11 universities at home and abroad attended the event.


The course training will last for 5 days. Professor James R. Martin, the renowned international SFL linguist, gives all the classes. The training mainly covers topics of genre, register and multimodality.


At the opening ceremony of the training, the executive director of MCAL, Professor Wang Zhenhua, recalled the previous achievements of the training program since its first event in July. By far, hundreds of trainees have attended in the training for overall 75 training hours, and 21 of them read their papers at the symposiums, 8 of which have selected by the panel for the journal of Contemporary Foreign Language Studies. Professor Wang calls on the attendants to concentrate, to contemplate, to comprehend and to cherish.


Six attendants will share their papers at the forthcoming symposium on November 8th.
