Brigham Young University Delegation Visits SFL

On May 19, the president of Brigham Young University(BYU), Kevin J Worthen, the vice-president, Sandra Rogers and the director of David M. Kennedy Center for International and Area Studies, Jeffrey Franklin Ringer visited the School of Foreign Languages(SFL) to discuss the prospects of faculty exchange and further cooperation. They were welcomed by the dean of SFL, Professor Hu Kaibao, the Associate Dean, Professor Chang Hui and the Assistant Dean, Dr. Tao Qing.

Dr. Tao Qing briefed the guests with the status quo of SFL, especially the recent achievements made in international education. According to the 2015 QS University Rankings, SFL is among the top 100 in Modern Language and Linguistics, 101-150 in English Language and Literature. SFL has established partnership with prestigious institutions of higher education, including University of Melbourne, University of Minnesota and Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, jointly cultivating students from SFL. Then, Dr. Tao made positive comments on the performance of the two teachers that were sent from Brigham Young University.

Kevin J Worthen, the university’s president, believes the relationship between SFL and BYU has led to friendly cooperation and he expects to see more on scientific research and international conferences between the two sides.

Brigham Young University is a private research university which was founded in 1875 and offers 4-year BA programs. As the ranking of the widely recognized U.S. News & World Report  shows, BYU ranks No.62 among the U.S. top universities in 2016.
