Vice Minister of Education Weng Tiehui Visits SJTU to Investigate the Work Related to CET4 and CET6

On the afternoon of January 2, Weng Tiehui, member of the Party Leadership Group and vice minister of the Ministry of Education, visited Shanghai Jiao Tong University to investigate the National College English Testing Committee of Band 4 and Band 6. Li Qiang, Secretary of the Party Committee and president of the Examination Institute of the Ministry of Education, Shi Jianhua, Director of the Personnel Department, Xu Zhifang, Director of the Finance Department, Zhao Yinghua, deputy director of the Social Examination Office (presiding over the work), Wang Hao, deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, were among the entourage. Ding Kuiling, President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Zhang Zhaoguo, Vice president of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, met with the guests and exchanged views in the CET4 and CET6 office at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Professor Jin Yan from the School of Foreign Languages of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, chair of the National College English Testing Committee, introduced the work related to CET-4 and CET-6.

Weng Tiehui fully acknowledged the work of CET4 and CET6 office. She stressed that CET was an important part of the high-quality education system, and it was necessary to continue to strengthen support and improve students' comprehensive ability to serve the development of teaching and education in our country's higher education.

The purpose of the College English Test (CET) is to examine the English proficiency of undergraduate students in China and ensure that Chinese undergraduates reach the required English levels specified in the National College English Teaching Syllabus (NCETS). The test is administered by the National College English Testing Committee on behalf of the Higher Education Department, Ministry of Education, the People's Republic of China (the P. R. China).
