Shanghai Jiao Tong University Japanese Speech Contest (2022) Final Successfully Held Online

On the afternoon of May 11, the final of Shanghai Jiao Tong University Japanese Speech Contest (2022) was successfully held online. Hosted by the Japanese Department of the School of Foreign Languages, the competition invites Ding Jian, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Foreign Languages, Wu Baohua, Director of the Japanese Department, Huang Jianxiang, Deputy Director of the Japanese Department, Kang Dongyuan, and Wang Lin from the Department of Japanese and many other guests. Mr. He Fujia, Mr. Watanabe Ryohei and Mr. Li Siqi from the Japanese Department served as judges for the competition.

 

 

Before the start of the speech contest, Mr. Huang Jianxiang delivered the opening speech, in which she shared her personal experience of loneliness.

The Japanese Speech Contest started with the collection of speech topics. After the preliminary round, the semi-finals, a total of 13 students from three groups participated in the final round. The topic of the speech contest was "About Loneliness". The contestants gave a three-minute speech each and then answered two questions from the judges. After three hours of fierce competition, the first, second and third prizes and excellent prizes were decided for each participating group.

The performances of freshmen and sophomores from the Japanese Department were interspersed. The freshman sang the Japanese song "In My Heart", and the sophomore rehearsed the textbook drama "Mochizuki Monogatari". Since this speech contest was held online, both programs were recorded in advance. The performance showed the mental outlook and style of the students of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Finally, Mr. Watanabe Ryohei made a comment and summary. Mr. Watanabe fully acknowledged the wonderful performance of the thirteen contestants, and placed high expectations on the participating Japanese students.

So far, Shanghai Jiao Tong University Japanese Speech Contest (2022) has come to a successful conclusion. The annual Japanese Speech Contest, which has been successfully held for 21 sessions, not only provides a valuable opportunity for Japanese students to improve their language application skills, but also becomes an excellent platform for students to share their own experiences and exchange opinions.
