Educational Background & Work Experience

Dr. Zibo Lin is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Japanese, School of Foreign Languages, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He obtained his Ph.D. in Education from Kyoto University (2015). His academic interests cover the history of education and intellectual history in modern Japan. His primary research focus is on the debates on national moral education and the ideological construction during the Meiji period and the Taisho period in Japan.

Teaching and Research

His recent monograph (in Japanese) was published by Xiamen University Press in 2019 (The Discursive Space of Moral Education in Japan during the Meiji Period). His publications have appeared in journals such as History of Education, Studies in the History of Education (Research Bulletin of the Japan Society for Historical Studies of Education), Kyoikugaku Kenkyu (Research Bulletin of Japanese Educational Research Association), Studies in Foreign Education, and History Teaching, among others.

He is the principal investigator for several projects on Japan-related research, respectively supported by Shanghai Academy of Educational Sciences (Project no.: A2022011), Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Project no.: AF1400021), and Sumitomo Foundation (Project no.: 158059).

He received the Research Incentive Award from The Japan Society for Historical Studies of Education in 2012.
