Chin-Deutsch. Symposium über “Advanced Computer-Aided Feedback Methods for Second Language and Pronunciation Training” Held at SOFL

 

Chin-Deutsch. Symposium über “Advanced Computer-Aided Feedback Methods for Second Language and Pronunciation Training” sponsored by The Sino-German Center for Research Promotion was jointly held by School of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering (SEIEE), SOFL and Dresden University of Technology at SOFL from May 17 to 20, 2015. Thirty specialists and scholars from 20 universities and institutions from China and Germany joined the symposium to discuss the latest development of intelligent speech technology and its possible application in computer assisted speaking training.

 

German delegates are from Dresden University of Technology, School of Medicine at Dresden University of Technology, University of Cologne, University of Kiel, Saarland University, Bielefeld University, Brandenburg University of Technology and University of applied sciences Leipzig. Chinese delegates are from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, TongJi University, Shanghai Normal University, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University, Beijing Language and Culture University, Renmin University of China, Tianjin University, University of Science and Technology of China and Northwestern Polytechnical University. All delegates are outstanding representatives of their research fields.

The symposium focused on the breakthroughs in computer assisted language learning (CALL) and computer assisted pronunciation training (CAPT) based on the project of “research on the pronunciation and rhythm acquisition of second language concerning intelligent computer assisted learning system” jointly launched by SOFL and SEIEE. Mentioned topics at the symposium include the assessment of second language learners’ rhythm of target language, the application of speaking test system in English examination, the improvement of feedback in CALL and CAPT system and 3-dimension modeling of pronunciation concerning speech training.
